Homemade Cream Cheese Drop Biscuits

Quick and easy recipe for biscuits that can be made for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Tastes much better than store bought. Ingredients: 2c all purpose flour (not self rising flour) 1 Tbsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp white granulated sugar 3/4 tsp kosher or table salt 1 c. cold buttermilk (or sour milk), heavy cream, sour cream or plain yogurt 6 Tbsp. cold unsalted butter, cubed into 1" pieces 2 Tbsp vegetable shortening Optional: Additional melted butter or heavy cream to brush the tops of biscuits before baking Directions: Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place the rack into the center of the oven so the bottom of the biscuits won't burn. In a food processor, electric stand mixer or by hand in a large bowl combine the dry ingredients. Add wet/ liquid ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms. DO NOT OVERMIX DOUGH or your biscuit WILL BE TOUGH! Place about 1/4 c of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet about 2" apart. Brush tops of biscuits with the melted butter or heavy cream. Bake for 15-18 mins or until golden brown. Yields about 18 biscuits depending on the size you make them Additional Add- In Ideas: 1/4 c grated parmesan cheese or other shredded cheese 1 Tbsp dried herbs or crumbled bacon
